Welcome to my website explaining what some aspects of the internet do. Happy reading!

User

The user is the person that wants to do something on the computer. For example if you wanted to play a game, you would be a user. Or if you wanted to program, you would be a user of the programing program.

Browser

Browser is a computer program used for searching things in the World Wide Web (also known as www.)

Device

A device is anything like a tablet, smartphone or a computer. Most devices can browse the world wide web and or fit in your pocket.

ISP

Provides internet service. Stands for Internet Service Provider.

Webpage

A display of information that can be accesed by anyone with the proper internet connection

World Wide Web

The main hub for internet browsing

Modem

A device for giving a small area internet connection.

Network

A network is a group of devices all connected to a single thing.

Webserver

A webserver is a program that uses HTTP to send the files from wherever its based to the user

Fiber Optic Cables

Fiber optic cables are network cables, but they use light instead of copper, there being laid out accross new zealand, there also over 10x faster than copper cables

Webhosting

Webhosting is using a servers to host a website.

Packets

Bits of data broken into smaller peices to avoid corruption of files

Routers

A router gets the modems connection, and makes it into wifi or gives it the ethernet ports that could run faster.

LANs RANs and WANs

A LAN is a local area network, and RAN is a regional area network and a WAN is a wide area network.
